week 16

Christmas is upon us and the next to last week of the NFL season will have some great matchups with teams fighting to get into the playoffs. I am already 1 and 0 with Pittsburgh's victory yesterday and below are the rest of my picks.
Dallas 27 Cardinals 13 (12). Even though Christmas is the season of giving and the cowboys season is over they won't be giving away a victory to Arizona.
Patriots 20 Bills 14 (14). Buffalo is improving every week but they are not in the same league with New England.
Bears 17 Jets 14 (1). Toughest game to pick. Don't like the way Sanchez plays in the cold weather.
Ravens 21 Browns 13 (11). Ravens defense needs to be in top form here.
KC 24 Tennesse 10 (10).
Rams 20 49ers 17 (3). Tough to big a game with two teams in the NFC west.
Detroit 20 Dolphins 14 (2). Dolphins record at home is atrocious.
Jacksonville 21 Redskins 17 (5). Would be more confident if Maurice Jones Drew was playing.
SD 30 Bengals 14 (15). A must win for the Chargers and they won't blow it in this game.
Houston 20 Denver 14 (4). Prove me wrong Tebow.
Raiders 20 Colts 17 (6). Colts will have Joseph Adai back but no Austin Colley will lead to Manning throwing some costly interceptions.
Green Bay 24 Giants 21 (7). Aaron Rodgers return will be too much for the reeling Giants to overcome.
Bucaneers 17 Seahawks 14 (8).
Eagles 30 Vikings 14 (13). The only thing the Eagles will be giving to the Vikings is more pain.
Atlanta 21 Saints 17 (9). Atlanta is at home and seldom ever turnsover the ball. That is the difference here.

start of week 16

Last week was a disappointing 7 and 9 last week with 75 points . For the season I have 137 wins and 87 losses with 1192 points.
First game this week is thursday.
Steelers 31 Panthers 10 (16). Steelers recover from a tough loss to the Jets

Saturday, December 18, 2010

week 15

I was 12 and 4 last week with 99 points. This week has the closest matchups I've seen all season. I am already 1 and 0 with 8 confidence points since I picked San Diego to win thursday and here are the rest of my picks.
Browns 28 Bengals 21 (9). Bengals are now the most disappointing team this season.
Dallas 30 Redskins 14 (12). If the Cowboys lose to a team with Rex Grossman at QB, their fans attending the game should demand their money back.
Texans 24 Titans 7 (11). Tennessee has quit on the season.
Jaguars 21 Colts 17 (2). Maurice Jones Drew will have a big game.
Chiefs 20 Rams 14 (3). Cassel was activated so the Chiefs should win.
Dolphins 24 Bills 17 (5). Miami squeaks by an improving Buffalo team.
Giants 17 Eagles 14 (1). Giants pass rush will knock Vick out of the game.
Bucaneers 14 Lions 7 (6). Another tough one but I can't see the Lions winning two in a row.
Cardinals 20 Panthers 13 (10)
Saints 23 Ravens 20 (4). Brees will be at his best.
Falcons 27 Seahawks 10 (16). Falcons are still the best team in the NFC.
Raiders 30 Broncos 10 (14). Broncos are in disarray.
Steelers 28 Jets 14 (13). I think the Jets are about to lose their season.
Patriots 30 Packers 14 (15). No Aaron Rodgers and no chance for the Pack.
Chicago 27 Vikings 14 (7). Favre will be on the sideline saying to himself why didn't I stay retired.

Saturday, December 11, 2010

week 14

Close matchups this week with teams trying to solidify their playoff chances.
Buffalo 17 Cleveland 14 (1). Tough game to pick since both teams are improving.
Steelers 27 Bengals 7 (16). Bengals are currently the worst team in football.
Packers 24 Lions 17 (12). Lions will challenge but the Packers will play with a sense of urgency since they need to win to have a chance to win the NFC central.
Giants 28 Vikings 14 (14). Favre will play with a bad shoulder and throw more interceptions.
Tampa Bay 20 Redskins 10 (13). Redskins decline goes into 5th gear.
Atlanta 30 Carolina 14 (15). Atlanta has been consistently good almost all year.
Jaguars 20 Raiders 17 (8).
Seattle 20 49ers 14 (3). NFC West should be caled NFC Worst. One of these teams will make it to the playoffs and neither should.
Saints 31 Rams 17 (11). Rams will compete here but the Saints have too many offensive weapons.
Jets 17 Dolphins 13 (9).
Denver 20 Arizona 17 (4). Two bad teams here. I just flipped a coin on this.
Chargers 24 Chiefs 14 (10). Matt Cassal had an emergency apendectomy and won't play. Chargers will take advantage.
Patriots 21 Bears 17 (5). Bears are very good at pressuring the quarterback but Tom Brady is playing at his best right now.
Eagles 21 Cowboys 20 (2). Vick's ability to scramble and Dez Bryant being out for the rest of the season are the reasons the Eagles squeak by.
Ravens 20 Texans 14 (7)

Another solid week for me. I went 12 and 4 with 113 points.

week 13

Another near perfect week for me last week. I was 13 and 3 with 120 points . I even had one score picked exactly right. See my pick on the Atlanta vs Packers game. My record this year is 106 and 70 with 905 points. This week looks to have some of the most exciting games this season here are my picks.
Colts 24 Cowboys 23 (1). I've gone back and forth with this one. Peyton Manning will make one last stand.
Saints 30 Bengals 14 (15). One team reaching its peak, the other about to hit rock bottom.
Bears 24 Lions 7 (10). Lions using a third string quarterback have no chance.
Packers 35 49ers 17 (16). Packers won't lose two games in a row.
Jaguars 30 Titans 10 (11). Titans are in the same boat with Detroit.
Chiefs 28 Broncos 20 (7).
Miami 24 Browns 20 (3). Cleveland is improving but will come up a little short in Miami.
Vikings 27 Bills 24 (2). Another tough game to pick. I'm looking for backup running back Toby Gearhart to have a big game for the Vikings.
Giants 24 Redskins 10 (8). Redskins weaknesses on offense will get exposed.
Chargers 30 Raiders 21 (14). Chargers surge continues.
Seattle 24 Panthers 17 (6).
Atlanta 27 Buccaneers 14 (13). Atlanta is the most consistent team this season.
Rams 34 Cardinals 20 (9). Sam Bradford should be considered for rookie of the year.
Ravens 20 Steelers 14 (5). Ravens at home and the Steelers with an injured quarterback is the difference here.
Patriots 27 Jets 20 (4). Entertaining game but I'll take the team with the better quarterback

eagles vs texans

Oops! This blog is late but as my rivals can verify it was made prior to the game
Eagles 24 Texans 10 (12)

Week 12

My record as of last week is 93 and 67 with 785 points. So far I am 3 and 0 this week. Here are the my picks for the remainding games.
Falcons 20 Packers 17 (1). Great matchup and hardest game to pick.
Steelers 30 Bills 21 (14). Bills are improving but are not in the Steelers league.
Browns 21 Panthers 10 (13).
Giants 24 Jaguars 21 (2). Jaguars are improving but Giants need to win to keep pace with the Eagles.
Vikings 27 Redskins 14 (11). New coach for the Vikings will give them the boost to win.
Titans 20 Texans 17 (3). Titans will have a rookie quarterback but Houston's defense has figured out every way to lose a game.
Raiders 20 Dolphins 10 (6). Another tough pick. I'll take the home team.
Chiefs 23 Seahawks 16 (10). Seahawks are set to collapse.
Bears 17 Eagles 14 (5). Bears defense has been outstanding and they are playing at home.
Rams 28 Broncos 17 (12). Rams QB Sam Bradford is set for a big game here.
Ravens 28 Buccaneers 10 (9). Tampa Bay's weaknesses get exposed here.

Cardinals 17 49ers 14 (7). Pick your poison. I'll take the home team

week 12

What a bounce back from a bad week. I was 13 and 3 for 120 points last week and my confidence is at an all time high. This week's game start early so here are my picks for the Thanksgiving games.

New Orleans 28 Cowboys 17 (4). Reggie Bush and Jeremy Shockey will probably play and that is more offense than Dallas can handle.
Patriots 30 Lions 14 (15). Lions are overmatched and even it they weren't would find a way to lose the game.
Jets 31 Bengals 17 (16). Bengals have quit on the season and T.O and Ocho Horrible TV Show need to quit it with reality television.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

week 11

Ouch!! A pathetic 4 and 10 last week for 37 points. Oh well, even the great ones have bad days. I'm already off to a solid start this week . Even though it is not on my blog I texted my pick of the bears over the dolphins before the game started to my competitors so I already have 1 win and 2 points this week. Here are the rest of my picks.
Bengals 17 Bills 13 (3). Pick your poison here.
Cowboys 27 Lions 10 (8). Cowboys get their second straight win. About time.
Titans 20 Redskins 14 (7). Redskins are ona downward fall.
KC 18 Cardinals 13 (4)
Packers 31 Vikings 13 (11). Packers will look to humiliate Favre.
Jets 30 Houston 17 (9). Texans won't get over their loss last week and Sanchez is starting to find his groove.
Steelers 28 Raiders 17 (10). Can't see the Steelers losing two games in a row.
Ravens 24 Carolina 10 (16).
Cleveland 20 Jaguars 16 (1). Hope Jaguar fans handle the loss better than Cleveland fans did last week
Atlanta 27 Rams 13 (14).
Saints 35 Seahawks 20 (15). Saints are finding their form from last year.
TB 20 49ers 17 (5).
Patriots 30 Colts 20 (13). Manning does not have enough weapons this week to beat Brady.
Eagles 24 Giants 17 (12). Even the head of the ASPCA has to admit that Michael Vick is now an elite quarterback.
San Diego 27 Broncos 17 (6)

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Week 10

I was a very impressive 11 and 2 last week for 74 points. This week has many evenly matched games and is ripe for upsets to occur as well. I am off to a slow start with Baltimore losing so here are the rest of my picks

Buffalo 20 Detroit 17 (2) Buffalo gets its first win at home
Vikings 21 Bears 14 (1) Hardest one to pick. Vikings defense will create just enough turnovers to win.
Cleveland 17 Jets 10 (4) . Upset pick. Cleveland's defense has been outstanding lately.
Tampa Bay 24 Panthers 7 (14). Panthers with a rookie quarterback will struggle again.
Houston 23 Jaguars 14 (8)
Colts 24 Bengals 14 (9). Dwight Freeney has big games against Bengals. That an Peyton Mannig is too much for the 2nd most disappointing team in football.
Titans 17 Dolphins 14 (10). Can't see the Dolphins doing much with Chad Pennington.
KC 28 Denver 14 (11).
Giants 30 Dallas 21 (13). Jason Garrett will have the Cowboys playing better but the Giants have the better offensive and defensive line.
Cardinals 21 Seahawks 20 (5). I'll take the home team.
Steelers 28 Patriots 24 (6). Patriots rarely lose two games in a row but their defense has been giving up too many points lately.
Rams 20 49ers 14 (7)
Eagles 20 Redskins 7 (12). Eagles history shows a team that surges in the second half of the season. The surge has started and will gain momentum here.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

week 9 game tonight

Baltimore 20 Falcons 17 (3). Tough game to pick. Like Baltimore's defense to pull this game out.
Rest of my picks will be coming tomorrow

Saturday, November 6, 2010

Week 9

So far the biggest surprises at the midway point of the season are easy to call.
The team that has exceeded all expectations are the Tampa Bay Bucaneers and the biggest disappointment of course is the Dallas Cowboys. I'm very embarrassed that I picked them to make it to the superbowl. The Cowboys just need to look across the street to the Ball Park in Arlington to see how a professional team plays when they are run properly.
Here are my picks this week.

Atlanta 23 Bucs 20 (7). Bucaneers will come down to earth this week. W
Bears 17 Bills 10 (3) . If the Bears were playing any other team I doubt I would pick them. W
Patriots 35 Browns 7 (13). Patriots are currently playing like the best team in the NFL L
Jets 28 Lions 14 (11). Jets rebound from a tough loss last week. W
Saints 30 Panthers 17 (12). Saints are finally getting over their superbowl hangover. W
Ravens 20 Dolphins 10 (2). Tough one to call but the Ravens defense should handle Miami's offense. W
Chargers 24 Texans 20 (5).Texans are overrated. W
Cardinals 28 Vikings 17 (4). Vikings downward spiral goes further. L
Giants 30 Seahawks 17 (8). Giants make a push to show they are the team to beat in the NFC. W
Eagles 21 Colts 17 (1). Toughest game to pick. Since the Colts have key players injured on offense, I'll take the home team. W
Raiders 24 Chiefs 14 (6). Raiders get better each week. W
Green Bay 31 Dallas 18 (9). Green Bay has injuries on offense and the Cowboys will make their back ups look like all pros. W
Steelers 27 Bengals 14 (10). If it weren't for the Cowboys, the Bengals would be the most disappointing team in the NFL. W

Another 7 and 7 week for me last week. My excuse this week is that with the Rangers making it to the world series I have lost the ability to focus on football. I am so drunk on Ranger kool aid that I am making these picks while standing on my head . Here they are.

week 4

Last week I was 9 and 7 with 98 points. It would have been a better week but Janikowski for the Raiders and Heartley for the Saints missed easy field goals causing their teams to lose. I look to rebound this week with the big game being between the Ravens and the Steelers.

Falcons over SF 24 to 14 (7). It is time for the 49ers to admit that Alex Smith isn't cutting it. W
Jets over Bills 27 to 13 (11). The Jets are starting to find their groove. W
Bengals over Browns 17 to 13 (8). Cincinnati is overrated but their still playing the Browns. L
Packers over Lions 28 to 14 (12). Packers will rebound from a tough loss last week. W
Titans over Broncos 23 to 17 (4). Chris Johnson will have a big game. L
Seahawks over Rams 17 to 13 (2). I have yet to pick a game right with Seattle. Pete Carroll is driving me crazy. L
Saints over Panthers 30 to 10 (14). The superbowl champs after a loss facing a team with a rookie quarterback. Carolina is in for a long day. W
Steelers over Ravens 17 to 10 (1). Baltimore has yet to show they can handle Pittsburgh's defense. L
Texans over Raiders 24 to 20 (2). Texans defense was exposed by Dallas last week but they should have just enough offense to beat the Raiders. W
Colts over Jaguars 30 to 13 (13). An easy one for the Colts and probably Jaguar coach Jack Del Rio's last game. L
Eagles over Redskins 23 to 10 (9). Dogkiller Vick is the best QB right now and I don't see the Redskins slowing him down. L
Chargers over Cardinals 14 to 13 (3). Both teams on the decline this year. The Cardinals are declining faster. W
Bears over Giants 21 to 17 (6). I'm not sold yet on the undefeated Bears but the Giants are coming apart. The g in gmen should stand for girly. L
Dolphins over Patriots 20 to 17 (5). A great match up. I'll take the home team L

Friday, September 24, 2010

week 3

At this point I am 20 and 12 with 173 points. Week 3 has some hard games to pick and we are about to see which teams will salvage their already troubled season.
Titans over Giant 17 to 14 (2). Justin Tuck won't be 100%. That's the difference in this game. W
Steelers over Bucs 14 to 10 (6). Tampa Bay is undefeated but can't see them moving the ball against the Steeler defense W
Cincinnati over Carolina 24 to 7 (15). Rookie QB Jimmy Claussen will be good one day but not this day. W
Ravens over Browns 21 to 3 (14). Ravens defense will dominate Browns. W
SF over KC 24 to 17 (4). 49ers were picked by many to make the playoffs. They better win here and now. L
Vikings over Lions 21 to 17 (9). Vikings are wounded but their still playing the Lions. W
Patriots over Buffalo 27 to 14 (16). Patriots have too much talent to lose to the Bills. W
Saints over Falcons 21 to 13 (11). Can't pick against the Saints at home. L
Redskins over Rams 17 to 10 (5). L
Eagles over Jaguars 28 to 10 (13). Vick's passing and running will be to much for the Jaguars. W
Raiders over Cardinals 14 to 13 (3). Not much to get excited about here. L
Chargers over Seahawks 24 to 17 (7). I'm not drinking Pete Carroll's kool aide anymore. L
Colts over Denver 26 to 14 (12). Peyton Manning is back on track. W
Miami over Jets 24 to 13 (8). Jets will not have Revis. Brandon Marshall will have a big game. L
Packers over Bears 20 to 17 (10). Cutler won't go two games in a row without a turnover. L
Cowboys over Texans 21 to 17 (1). Confidence level of 1 does not do it justice. If we could do fractions it would be 1/4. Texans are gaining confidence and have talent but here is where the Cowboys finally find their A game. For Wade Phillip's sake they better. W

Monday, September 20, 2010

week 2

From this point going forward I have a feeling that any game where I pick the Cowboys to win, my confidence level will be no higher than 5. Right now I'm not sure the Cowboys offensive line is capable of run blocking. Dallas is out of synch in all phases of the game but what is being overlooked in this game is the outstanding play of Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler was pressured early on in the game and instead of getting rattled completed deep passes and when the game was over threw for 277 yards with no interceptions.
I am embarrassed that I picked Pete Carroll's Seahawks to beat Denver. Seattle will struggle winning two games in a row this season. Carroll is not yet use to the fact that it's not just his players getting paid this time (cheap shot but I couldn't resist).
Anyone who saw the roughing the passer penalties againt Baltimore in their loss to the Bengals can see why former Dallas Quarterback Roger Staubach called the NFL, word that proceeds cat and starts with a p football. A text book tackle by Tyrell Suggs on Carson Palmer was called and Ray Lewis being blocked into Palmer causing Lewis's leg to hit Palmer's leg was called as well. Lewis's penalty is ridiculous beyond words. Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL now have far too many rules and have gone too far in trying to protect players. It is understandable to try to protect players from concussions but I would suggest improving the helmets and other equipment players wear would be a better way to go about it. The bigger problem is Goodell seems to be trying to take away any injuries to NFL quarterbacks. No one wants to see Peyton Manning or Tom Brady sustain a knee injury but this is pro football which by nature is a dangerous physical sport where injuries are unavoidable. Penalizing defensive players when they are blocked into a quarterback causing their leg to collide with a quarterback's leg disrespects the game of football. Goodell should look at recent NFL history and realize that one of the players he is trying to protect, Tom Brady, got the New England starting Quarterback job because prior starter Drew Bledsoe got injured. If the NFL keeps going down this path of putting in more rules to "protect" marquee players I may just send to Roger Goodell's office flags for every NFL quarterback because I'm afraid he is slowly turning the NFL into flag football.

Week 2

This is a difficult week for picking games but I look for some teams that disappointed in their first week to dominate their opponents in week 2.
Tennessee over Pittsburgh 17 to 10. (11) Steelers offense will struggle again without Rothlisberger. L
Vikings over Dolphins 21 to 17. (5) Favre still has a few good games left in him. L
Atlanta over Arizona 24 to 10. (8) Here is where the Cardinals free fall starts. W
Bengals over Ravens 20 to 14. (3) Ravens on the road after playing a Monday night game will struggle. W
KC over Cleveland 17 to 14. (4) W
Dallas over Chicago 28 to 10 .(15) If the Cowboys can't beat the Bears at home we can forget about the superbowl. L
Philadelphia over Lions 27 to 10. (14) Hide your dogs, the Vick era has returned. W
Green Bay over Buffalo 31 to 13. (16) At home the Pack should dominate. W
Carolina over Tampa Bay 17 to 13. (1) L
Seattle over Denver 20 to 17. (6) I'll drink some more of Pete Carroll's kool-aid. L
Raiders over Rams 27 to 20. (7) W
Texans over Redskins 17 to 10. (9) Tough matchup for Houston but here is where they show they are not just another average team. W
Patriots over Jets 23 to 13. (13) Wes Welker will have a big game. L
Chargers over Jaguars 24 to 17. (12) W
Colts over Giants 20 to 17. (2) Tough game to pick so I'll go with the big brother. W
Saints over 49ers 21 to 14 (10) Alex Smith will turnover the ball at least 3 times. W

week one results

I was 10 and 6 with 88 points for the first week. The teams that impressed the most were the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans. The teams that disappointed the most were the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys. It's very early on the season but the two players on defense that look to have all pro break out years are Houston's Mario Williams and Green Bay's Clay Matthews. Even though the Cowboys looked bad against Washington, their next opponent is Chicago and when Marco Columbo returns Dallas should be back on the right track.

week 1 of the NFL

Here we go with the first week of the NFL and with our new confidence rating here are my picks for the week in which I see many road teams winning.
New Orleans over Minnesota 31-17 (15). Minnesota has too many injured players to stay with the Saints.
Giants over Panthers 17 to 14 (2).
Atlanta over Steelers 24-14 (6). Steelers with Dixon at QB will struggle to put up points.
Bucaneers over Browns 14 to 10 (1). Two teams with low expectation will put on a boring game.
Broncos over Jaguars 23 to 13 (3)
Colts over Texans 27 to 24 (4). Houston plays 3 great quarters and as always fades in the 4th.
Dolphins over Buffalo 31-21 (16). Dolphins are the most underrated team in the AFC
Bears over Lions 20 to 17 (5). Hard to pick a team with Jake Cutler at QB but it's even harder to pick the Lions.
Titans over Raiders 21 to 14 (8). Don't let me down Vince Young.
Patriots over Bengals 27 to 20 (7). TO which now stands for Too Old will drop at least 3 passes.
Arizona over Rams 20 to 10 (9). Arizona will have regress this year but they're still playing the lambs.
49ers over Seahawks 30 to 13 (13). 49ers are poised to have a great year.
Packers over Eagles 24 to 14 (14). Packers are out to show they are the best team in the NFC
Dallas over Redskins 27 to 10 (12). Cowboys will make Mcnabb turnover the ball at least 3 times.
Baltimore over JETS 21 to 14 (11). Ravens addition of Bolden at Wide Receiver is the difference here.
San Diego over KC 24 to 20 (10). Chargers will decline this year but not on this game.

NFL season is almost here

With the NFL season less than a week away, I look forward to our NFL picks each week where myself and my long time rival John Carroll (a.k.a Mr Slag) show off our insightful knowledge of NFL football in revealing our picks of who we think willl win each game of every week. This year we will be joined by a couple of other insignificant NFL prognosticating wannabees (their names are Brad Mccandless and Derran Schilling) and each week our picks will be on our respective blog sites just to show how knowledgable about the NFL we really are. In truth I truly am knowledgable about the NFL and my competitors just think they are.
Just to show off how confident I am in seeing into the future of the NFL this season, I will be the first to predict the two teams who will be in the superbowl this season. They are the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens.
Let the record show that I was the first one to make this prediction so if my competitors already feel intimdidated and want to withdraw from the competition, they may. If not, let the games begin!
