I was 10 and 6 last week and wasn't expecting some of the upsets that occured. I still can't see how the Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills who are coached by Chan Gailey and quarterbacked by a Harvard grad. I guess anything is possible these days in the NFL but I don't see this many big upsets occuring but do see many close games.
Packers 35 Broncos 7 (16). No one in Denver will be feeling mile high after this game.
Chargers 30 Dolphins 14 (15). Dolphins are set to have their worst season.
Saints 27 Jaguars 7 (14). Jaguars have Maurice Jones Drew and nothing else.
Bills 31 Bengals 17 (13). The Bills could let down after a big win but I have faith in a team lead by a man with a Harvard degree.
Bucaneers 27 Colts 14 (12). Colts will get a win soon but Curtis Painter needs more experience first.
Bears 28 Panthers 21 (11). Bears defense will force Cam Newton into turnovers.
Ravens 24 Jets 17 (10). Ravens defense will overwhelm Mark Sanchez.
Giants 21 Cardinals 17 (9).
Redskins 17 Rams 10 (8). Even with Rex Grossman the Redskins are still the better team.
Vikings 14 Chiefs 10 (7). The team that can't finish a game beats the team that can't start or finish a game.
Patriots 30 Raiders 27 (6). Buffalo exposed New England's poor defense but the Patriots also lost from their 4 turnovers and Tom Brady will not let that happen two weeks in a row.
Falcons 24 Seahawks 20 (5). Falcons seldom play good on the road, Seattle seldom plays good anywhere.
Houston 28 Steelers 21 (4). If Houston learns how to play in the 4th quarter they could win going away.
Lions 24 Cowboys 20 (3). Both teams have wins against lousy opponents but injuries and the short week will work against Dallas in this game.
Eagles 27 49ers 20 (2). Tough game to pick but I'm thinking Michael Vick will not cave into the pressure of playing in the NFL until next week.
Browns 21 Titans 14 (1).

Week 3
What a strange week it was in the NFL. Rex Grossman won his 2nd straight game and Brad went 14 and 2 with his picks. I thought Christmas was the time of miracles. Contrary to what Brad put on his post, my next screenplay will be a comedy and I will get great material from Brad and John's picks along with John's inexplicable hatred for Jason Garrett and Brad's intense disgust of Eli Manning.
This week has some very difficult games to pick and I see a big upset coming this week.
Steelers 35 Colts 10 (16). No Peyton, you know the rest
Chargers 28 Chiefs 7 (15). Chiefs are the worst team in football.
Lions 31 Vikings 14 (14). Donovan McNabb meet Ndamukong Suh and enjoy your next month in the hospital.
Ravens 28 Rams 14 (13). Ravens won't play two bad games in a row.
Patriots 37 Bills 24 (12). Buffalo can keep up early with their offense but their defense is nowhere near good enough to slow down Brady.
Carolina 27 Jaguars 20 (11). I'll drink the Cam Newton kool aide.
Titans 21 Broncos 17 (10). Titans are at home and have a better quarterback.
Eagles 24 Giants 16 (9). Vick will play and the Giants wide receivers will get lost in the Eagle secondary.
Cardinals 20 Seahwaks 10 (8). Seattle is the 2nd worst team in football.
Jets 20 Raiders 17 (7). Jets defense will barely prevail here.
Packers 21 Bears 14 (6). Close one but the Bears don't have enough playmakers on offense.
49ers 24 Bengals 17 (5). Jim Harbough will have SF playing over their heads.
Cleveland 21 Dolphins 20 (4). Taking the home team.
Cowboys 24 Redskins 21 (3). Very tough game to pick. I'm counting on Demarcus Ware to force Rex Grossman to turnover the ball multiple times.
Falcons 21 Bucs 17 (2) Another tough one since Atlanta has trouble on the road but their offense has enough skilled players to pull this one out.
Houston 27 Saints 20 (1). My upset pick. Wade Phillips is an excellent defensive coordinator and will devise schemes to get Mario Williams and Brian (roid freak) Cushing to force Drew Brees into turnovers.

week 2
Another week of good match ups and I expect some teams to rebound from their disappointing first week. Here we go.
Steelers 31 Seahawks 10 (16) Steelers were embarrassed last week and will take it out on Seattle.
Bills 28 Raiders 17 (11). Ryan Fitzpatrick is the best QB no one talks about and the Raiders on the road with little rest this week have too much to overcome.
Lions 27 Chiefs 14 (14). I have never picked Detroit to win with this high a confidence level but Matt Stafford and their defense has me believing.
Packers 35 Carolina 20 (13). Cam Newton could have another big game but not enough to beat GB.
Dallas 24 49ers 10 (12). Until the 4th quarter the Cowboys looked good against the Jets so they should have no trouble beating a poor team like San Francisco.
Ravens 30 Titans 13 (15). After destroying the Steelers Baltimore should do the same with Tennessee.
Jets 21 Jaguars 7 (10). Mark Sanchez is very overrated but once again the Jets will win with their defense and special teams.
Houston 23 Dolphins 17 (9). Houston is on the road but should still beat Miami coming off a short week.
Patriots 27 Chargers 24 (8). New England will get a challenge here and have a short week to work with but since they are at home they will squeak by.
Cleveland 20 Colts 13 (7). Still can't pick the Colts until they show they can play without Manning.
Redskins 21 Caridinals 14 (6). I can't belive I'm picking a team with Rex Grossman at QB to win.
Saints 24 Bears 20 (5). Tough one to pick. Saints with a long week to work with and being at home should able to pull this one out.
Falcons 24 Eagles 21 (4). Slight upset here but The Falcons play much better at home.
Bengals 21 Broncos 14 (3). Pick your poison.
Vikings 28 Bucaneers 21 (2). Adrian Peterson will have a big game
Giants 21 Rams 14 (1). Only picking the Giants because Stephen Jackson is not healthy
Steelers 31 Seahawks 10 (16) Steelers were embarrassed last week and will take it out on Seattle.

New NFL season week 1
It's week one with some very close match ups and difficult games to pick. I can't believe that I will be picking against the Colts with a confidence level of 16 but no Peyton Manning will equate to no wins for Indianapolis this year.
Houston 30 Colts 14 (16). Manning's neck injury looks worse than expected. More losses will follow.
Chargers 31 Vikings 14 (15). Chargers usually start slow but Donovan Mcnabb is way past his prime.
Cardinals 28 Panthers 7 (14). Kevin Cobb will have a breakout year.
Patriots 27 Dolphins 7 (13). Patriots QB is Tom Brady, Dolphins is Chad Henne. Gross mismatch.
Giants 21 Redskins 13 (12). Giants will struggle but won't lose to a team with Rex Grossman at QB.
KC 24 Bills 17 (11). Matt Cassel will play and the Chiefs are at home.
Jets 20 Cowboys 13 (10). Cowboys are starting two rookie offensive linemen and have a terrible secondary. They will be better this year but not this weekend.
Denver 17 Oakland 14 (9).
Detroit 30 Tampa Bay 20 (8). Matt Stafford is finally healthy. Detroit could finally make it to the playoffs this year if he stays that way.
Titans 20 Jaguars 13 (7). Titans have Matt Hasselbeck and Jags cut their QB today.
Eagles 28 Rams 20 (6). Rams could turn things around but Sam Bradford still has more to learn.
Packers 28 Saints 21 (5). Great way to start the season. Pack at home has a few too many weapons here.
Falcons 21 Bears 17 (4). Jay Cutler now has Roy Williams to throw the ball to. That's trouble.
Browns 23 Bengals 20 (3).
49ers 20 Seahawks 14 (2). Two bad teams with bad quarterbacks. Jim Harbough outcoached Pete Carroll twice when they were coaching in the PAC 10 and he will do it again here.
Baltimore 17 Steelers 13 (1). Another close one between two physical teams.

Upcoming NFL season
The NFL season is right around the corner and so will our contest to determine who is the most accurate in picking NFL games. I dominated the competition last year and plan on doing the same again this year. Returning will be my friends and diehard cowboy fans John and Brad along with hopefully my brother's friend Dan. If Dan opts out because he sees my record last year and knows it is impossible to beat me I will certainly understand. As for Brad and John they will enter with the delusion they can beat me which is only matched by their delusions of their beloved Dallas Cowboys making it to the superbowl. In fairness to both Brad and John they will be working at a disadvantage since after last year's disasterous cowboy season ,both were institutionalized and shortly thereafter doctor's had to resort to electroshock therapy to erase the memories of last year's cowboy debacle.
This year as a bonus I will go ahead and give my pick of the two teams that will be in the superbowl. I figure if Sports Illustrated's Peter King can do it and get paid then I should too. Last year Peter King picked the Houston Texans to be in the superbowl and this year his pick is almost as absurd. King has the Atlanta Falcons vs the San Diego Chargers with the Falcons winning.
My pick is the Green Bay Packers vs the New England Patrtiots. New England will be fueled by last year's loss to the Jets in the playoffs and still has Tom Brady in top form. Green Bay will be returning all their best players from last year and will get back tight end Jermichael Finley and running back Ryan Grant. It's hard to have a superbowl champion repeat but this will be the year it will happen and Green Bay will win their 5th superbowl in franchise history. The Pack will be back and better than ever!
