Another superbowl is here and the parties are already being prepared. Friends and family with their barbecue food and beer will be all gathered around to watch the biggest game of the season which of course will lead to most people calling in sick for their jobs on Monday. My playoff picks have been pretty average but I intend to cap off the season strong. I would like to say my rivals Mr. Slag and Brad have been institutionalized again for their Dallas Cowboys once again failing to make the playoffs but even they could see the Cowboys disappointing season coming from a mile away. It's been so long since the Cowboys have made it to the superbowl that predicting the Cowboys to fall far short of making the superbowl is like predicting the sun to rise in the east. Sadly it takes the week of the superbowl for the media to talk about teams that actually know how to play football when everything is on the line.
The superbowl ,or as everyone is calling it the Harbowl, is an intriguing matchup.
These two teams in the superbowl represent their coaches. The Ravens are smart, experienced and passionate. The 49ers are strong willed, dynamic and aggressive.
The sentimental favorite will be the Ravens but the 49ers on both the offensive and defensive line are stronger. Joe Flacco has yet to throw an interception in the playoffs and if the Ravens are to have any chance this must continue but the 49ers pistol offense will be the hardest challenge for the Ravens defense. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are smart enough to contain it early but the 49ers have a quarterback in Colin Kapernick who can beat a team either by running or throwing and has multiple offensive weapons to utilize. As experienced as the Ravens are, the strength and speed of the 49ers will be too much for them to overcome. The younger Harbough will be holding the Lombardy trophy and the 49ers will win convincingly.
49ers 28 Ravens 20
Just looking ahead the next great rivalry in football is the 49ers and the Seahawks. Don't be surprised if the superbowl is the start of another 49er dynasty.
