final week of the regular season

Looks like I was too preoccupied with my Christmas references. I was a pathetic 7 and 9 last week but I do plan on finishing strong with the final weak of the season that will include games with playoff implications.
Carolina 21 Atlanta 17 (10). Carolina has been a pleasant surprise and Atlanta has been a major disappointment.
Bengals 24 Ravens 17 (9). At home the Bengals are too much for an ailing Joe Flacco.
Titans 20 Houston 14 (1). Both teams can't wait for the season to end.
Colts 24 Jaguars 3 (16).
Dolphins 28 Jets 7 (15). The Jets will still keep Ryan.
Vikings 24 Lions 21 (3). The real underachieving Lions took a while to show up this season but their underachieving ways are in 5th gear now.
Giants 20 Redskins 14 (4). Danny Snyder has ruined another NFL coach.
Steelers 21 Browns 17 (6).
Bears 30 Packers 27 (5). Hard game to pick especially with Aaron Rodgers returning but I'm saying a prayer and counting on Jay Cutler to rebound from last weeks loss.
Broncos 28 Raiders 21 (14). Oakland is healthy and Broncos are without Welker but Denver is still the much better team.
Patriots 24 Bills 17 (13). Patriots need to win to have any hope of home field advantage in the playoffs.
Saints 35 Bucs 17 (12). Saints play better at home.
Cardinals 20 49ers 17 (7). Cardinals need to win to have a shot at the playoffs and they'll get it.
Chargers 27 Chiefs 17 (8).
Seahawks 23 Rams 14 (11).
Eagles 30 Dallas 21 (2). The most overhyped game. The winner will make the playoffs  but having either of these two teams in the playoffs is like throwing lambs to the slaughter house. Dallas without Romo and with their god awful defense will not be able to keep up with Philly.

week 16 yule tide games

Tis the season to be jolly. For defensive players in the NFL it has to be hard to be that way since Commissioner Goodell has decided to be the Grinch that stole football by creating even more penalties and fining players for hits that were legal in prior years. Pretty soon there may be  a rule that quarterbacks can no longer be sacked and that defensive players can only hit them with Christmas stockings. With that said below are my picks with more Christmas references starting with Miami playing in Buffalo where I'm sure Bills fans don't want to hear the lyrics "let it snow let it snow let it snow".

Miami 24 Bills 17 (6).Grandma got runover by a reindeer walking home from our house Christmas eve and the Bills will feel like they've been run over by a hundred reindeers. L
Bengals 28 Vikings 14 (10). For Adrian Peterson to keep coming back from these injuries so quick, he must be taking whatever that stuff Santa gives his reindeers to make them fly. It still won't be enough to beat the Bengals. W
Chiefs 28 Colts 13 (11). The ghost of Christmas present is finally showing Chiefs fans something they want to see. L
Tampa Bay 20 Rams 14 (2). Mild upset with two weak teams. Tampa will beat up the Rams the way Ralphie beat up Scott Farkus. L
Cleveland 17 Jets 13 (3). In summer's sun and winter's snow the New York Jets will always blow. L
Washington 24 Dallas 23 (1). Fans of both teams need the the ghost of Christmas past to go a long way back to show them when these teams were actually good. L
Carolina 30 Saints 14 (14). Panther's defense is like two of Santa's reindeers. Fast as Comet and alot of Blitzen. W
Jacksonville 20 Titans 10 (4). Sleep in heavenly peace. That's what viewers of this game will be doing once it starts. L
Denver 35 Texans 14 (16). Frosty the snowman was made of snow and the children know that he came to life one day. Too bad in Houston fans are still waiting for the Texans to come to life this season. W
Lions 21 Giants 3 (14). Frosty also had two eyes made out of coal and Eli Manning after this game will have two eyes as black as coal.L
Seattle 23 Cardinals 7 (13). Peace on earth and mercy mild. Not for opposing teams playing in Seattle. Arizona will be playing on a scorched earth with punishment wild. L
Steelers 20 Packers 17 (3). May look like an upset but Green Bay got their Christmas gift last week from the Cowboys and the Steelers have been telling Santa to give them a victory and to save all his toys for the little rich boys (if you don't get that reference listen to The Kinks song "Father Christmas". It's awesome) W
Chargers 30 Oakland 14 (9) . It's a miracle that Phillip Rivers is actually playing good this season. With Christmas being the time of miracles, it should carry on this weekend. W
Baltimore 24 Patriots 20 (8). Without Gronkowski the Patriots will have a harder time winning than Santa riding his sleigh on a foggy Christmas eve without Rudolph's shiny red nose. L
Bears 23 Eagles 14 (7). Eagles should never have a victory at this time of year when they have fans that boo Santa Claus. L
49ers 35 Falcons 17 (15). The ghost of Christmas future is showing another long playoff run for the 49ers. W

Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

week 15

Denver let me down losing to San Diego. The confidence level was 6 and this week has games that will have play off ramifications. L

Falcons 21 Redskins 20 (1). Two of the most disappointing teams playing each other. Cousins will have a good game but not quite good enough. W
Bears 24 Browns 17 (8). Cutler better have a good game if he wants to remain starter. W
Colts 28 Texans 14 (14). W
Dolphins 27 Patriots 20 (3). The Patriots have been barely getting by against below average teams and getting help from the officials. No Gronk will mean no win. W
Eagles 30 Vikings 14 (12). Eagles are picking up their game at the right time. L
Seahawks 20 Giants 7 (16). Even if Seattle isn't as good on the road the Giants are packing it in this season. W
49ers 21 Bucs 20 (4). TB has been playing well lately but SF will avoid the upset at the last minute of the game. W
Jaguars 20 Bills 14 (5). W
Chiefs 28 Raiders 10 (13). Chiefs have only beaten teams with losing records. It shouldn't stop now. W
Panthers 35 Jets 10 (15). The Jets offense will get decimated.  W
Cowboys 24 Packers 21 (2). Cowboys won't have their best defensive player (Lee) but the Packers won't have their best offensive player (Rodgers). L
Cardinals 28 Titans (11). If the Cardinals were in the NFC east they would be in first place easily. W
Saints 23 Rams 17 (10).L
Bengals 27 Steelers 14 (9). If the Bengals can get more focus and confidence they will be in the superbowl. L
Ravens 21 Detroit 17 (7). Detroit has more talent but no discipline. Better coaching prevails for the Ravens  W

week 14

I picked the Texans to win with a confidence of 1 so I'm off to a bad start. There are some great match ups this weekend and below are my picks. L
Bengals 28 Colts 17 (10). Bengals defense will be too much for Luck.W
Packers 20 Atlanta 14 (2). This looked like a great matchup at the start of the season.W
Patriots 28 Browns 10 (16). Too easy to pick.W
Raiders 21 Jets 6 (4). Jets are done and Ryan will get fired.L
Lions 28 Eagles 20 (5). This is not an upset. Foles has been getting lucky and the turnovers start tomorrow.  L
Steelers 21 Dolphins 14 (6). Stay off the field Tomlin. L
Bucaneers 24 Bills 14 (8). It's way too late but Tampa Bay has been playing very good football the last month. W
Chiefs 21 Redskins 14 (11). I'm sick of hearing about RG3 now. W
Ravens 28 Vikings 17 (13). Ravens could make one last push. W
Denver 35 Titans 10 (15). Mile high numbers for Demarius Thomas this game. W
Arizona 24 Rams 17 (12). Cardinals must win out.W
Chargers 21 Giants 17 (7). W
49ers 27 Seahawks 23 (5). Love this match up. These are the two best teams in the NFL. The 49ers are at home and will have revenge on their mind and Jim Harbough won't let Pete Carroll beat him two times in a row this season. W
Saints 24 Panthers 21(9). The 3rd and 4th best teams in the NFL going at it. At home the Saints are almost as unbeatable as the Seahawks. W
Cowboys 27 Bears 20 (3). Two barely average teams playing Monday night. I'll take the Cowboys and watch a Christmas movie instead of this boring game L

Bears 20 Vikings 17 (1). (L)
Miami 21 Jets 14 (2). The Jets have stopped being bad every other week. Now it's every week. (W)
Cardinals 28 Eagles 20 (5). Could someone please start paying attention to the Cardinals.(L)
Carolina 28 Bucaneers 14 (15). Same goes for Carolina (W)
New England 40 Texans 7 (16). Game will be over at half time (W)

Chargers 20 Bengals 17 (9). Not 100% sold on the Bengals yet. (L)
Giants 21 Redskins 14 (11). W
Seattle 28 Saints 14 (13). Looks like a good match up but the Saints struggle on the road and Seattle at home is unbeatable. W

thanksgiving picks

I took a beating last week but hope to rebound strong. The  3 games on thanksgiving have 2 pretty good matchups and one that I suggest families turn off and have their thanksgiving dinner. Below are my picks

Green Bay 27 Detroit 20 (4). The Lions have teased us this season and their real losing selves have shown the last two games and will continue tomorrow
Ravens 17 Steelers 14 (3). Always a close game with these two teams.
Cowboys 20 Raiders 6 (10).  An average team against a lousy team will make your turkey hard to digest if you watch it. Families and friends playing football in their backyard will be more entertaining than this game.

WEEK 12

Even though six of my picks were losses last week, I still feel last week was a good week since one of my picks (the panther patriot game) had me not only picking the winner right but I had the exact score right as well. This is the 3rd time that I have done this and if I can do it again this week I may just move out to vegas. I already picked New Orleans to win with a confidence of 13 and below are the rest of my picks for this very cold weekend of football.
Steelers 17 Browns 14 (3). Steeler pride will be just enough (W)
Lions 27 Tampa 14 (14). Lions blew it last week at will rebound this week. (L)
Packers 17 Vikings 10 (5). Tolzien throws for 200 yards and will have no turnovers. That is all that is needed to beat Minnesota. TIE
Chiefs 20 Chargers 7 (12). Back at home the Chiefs will get back in their winning ways.(L)
Bears 27 Rams 20 (9).(L)
Panthers 20 Dolphins 17 (4). Close one but Panthers will win with defense. (W)
Jets 21 Ravens 20 (7). This season for the Jets has been win one lose one. Last week they lost. I'm sticking with the trend. (L)
Texans 21 Jaguars 17 (8). I didn't think Houston was so bad they could lose to the Raiders and they did. Their recovery from this downward spiral starts tomorrow. (L)
Raiders 24 Titans 20 (6). (L)
Cardinals 28 Colts 7 (10). The Cardinals are flying under the radar and getting better every week.(W)
Giants 20 Dallas 17 (1). Two average to below average teams facing off. The Giants play better in the cold. (L)
New England 21 Denver 20 (2).Same reason as the prior pick applies. Peyton Manning especially struggles in cold weather in the north east. (W)
49ers 28 Redskins 7 (11). 49ers feel they got screwed by officiating last week and Washington will pay for it(W)

week 11

I picked Indy to win with a confidence level of 3 and the rest of the games this week are going to be very difficult to pick. Here we go.
Bills 20 Jets 14 (4). Jets win every other game. They won their last game. W
Baltimore 24 Bears 17 (10). Bears have yet to show they can win without Cutler. L
Bengals 17 Browns 10 (11). W
Redskins 21 Eagles 17 (1). The Eagles have lost 10 in a row at home. Make it 11. L
Lions 28 Steelers 14 (12). Steelers defense is eroding quick. L
Bucanneers 21 Falcons 14 (2). Falcons are the most disappointing team this season. W
Arizona 28 Jaguars 10 (14). W
Houston 21 Raiders 10 (9). Houston is struggling but the Raiders with Pryor are a near disaster and without him are a complete one. L
Chargers 24 Dolphins 14 (13). The Dolphins afterward accuse Chargers of bullying them. L
Saints 21 49ers 20 (5). Saints win with a last second field goal. W
Giants 28 Packers 17 (8). Giants are slowly improving and Packers without Rodgers will quickly regress. W
Seattle 28 Vikings 10 (15). No one beats Seattle at home. W
Chiefs 17 Broncos 14 (7). This is not an upset. The Chiefs front 4 is outstanding and Peyton Manning has a bad leg. Chiefs will create turnovers to win the game. L
Carolina 24 Patriots 20 (6). This is not an upset either and the reasons are the same as the Chiefs Broncos game. Panthers defense is ranked 2nd in the league and will be the reason the Panther win. W

week 10

Last week was rough. Should have done more research to see that Buffalo was starting their 3rd string QB with a last name of Teul. This week I did pick the Vikings to win with a confidence level of 1 and below are the rest of my picks.

Seattle 21 Atlanta 10 (14). The downhill run for Atlanta continues. (W)
Bears 20 Lions 17  (2). Tough one but the Bears with Cutler back at home  prevail on a last second field goal. (L)
Eagles 24 Packers 14 (3). This is not an upset. No Rodgers and Matthews means no win for the Packers.  (W)
Tenessee 24 Jaguars 13 (13). (L)
Colts 24 Rams 20 (5). The Rams are improving but Andrew Luck finds a way to win. (L)
Giants 27 Raiders 10 (11). Raiders were terrible last week and it continues today (W)
Steelers 17 Bills 14(4). This may be the last game the Steelers win this season. (W)
Ravens 24 Bengals 17 (6). The Ravens are too proud to lose two in a row and Dalton still makes too many mistakes. (W)
49ers 27 Panthers 24 (9). Carolina is the most improved team this year in the NFC but I'm taking the home team (L)
Cardinals 28 Texans 14 (12). Another downhill run continues. (W)
Denver 24 Chargers 20 (8). Another close one but I'm counting on Phillip Rivers to turnover the ball. (W)
Saints 27 Dallas 20 (7). Confidence level would be higher if Sproles were playing. Still Drew Brees should have success against Dallas's defense which hasn't shut down any good quarterback yet.(W)
Miami 20 Bucs 14 (10). (L)

week 9

thanks to the incompetence of Andy Dalton I already have a loss and 9 conf level points down the drain . I need perfection with these picks. L

Bills 21 Chiefs 17 (1). Chiefs winning streak ends today  L
Dallas 30 Vikings 10 (10). Dallas defense struggles when the opposing teams has someobody good at QB. Christian Ponder is a nobody. W
Titans 20 Rams 17 (2). W
Jets 21 Saints 20 (3). May look like an upset but I don't like the way New Orleans plays on the road. W
Chargers 24 Redskins 20(8). Redskins need more consistency out of RG3 still. L
Carolina 24 Falcons 14 (11). I give up on my superbowl prediction. The Falcons are nosediving. W
Raiders 28 Eagles 17 (7) . Eagles can't win at home or anywhere else. L
Seahawks 30 Bucs 7 (13). Blowout! W
Ravens 20 Browns 14 (6). L
Patriots 21 Steelers 10 (5). Steelers offensive line will soon get Rothlisberger injured. W
Colts 20 Texans 10 (4). An inexperienced QB and an injury to Cushing is too much for Houston to overcome  W
Packers 30 Bears 17 (12). Bears don't have Cutler and Packers at home do have Rodgers. Case closed. L

week 8

Both myself and  Mr. Slag forgot that there was a football game was played Thursday. It was two meaningless teams playing in Carolina and Tampa so it was easy to forget. I won't forget to place the picks for the rest of the games and below are my picks.

Lions 27 Dallas 20 (5). Mega game for Megatron
Chiefs 20 Browns 7 (11). Chiefs are winning with an easy schedule but still winning.
Patriots 24 Dolphins 13 (8). Patriots rarely lose two in a row.
Saints 30 Bills 17 (9). Saints will dominate early.
Giants 20 Eagles 14 (1). A team that doesn't win on the road against a team that doesn't win at home. I am counting on Vick getting injured for the Giants to win.
49ers 28 Jags 7 (12)
Bengals 28 Jets 10 (3). Reality check for the Jets.
Steelers 17 Raiders 10 (2). Steelers are slowly improving even if it is probably too late.
Denver 35 Redskins 20 (7). RG3 is improving but the Redskin defense is not.
Atlanta 24 Cardinals 20 (4). I'm holding out some hope for Atlanta to make my superbowl pick look good.
Packers 28 Vikings 14 (10). Someone find the Vikings a quarterback
Seattle 21 Rams 3 (6). and for the Rams too

Saturday, October 19, 2013

week 7

I did pick Seattle to beat Arizona but should have given a higher confidence level of 2. Not to worry. My interest in baseball is gone since the world series will include two teams I dislike so I can now focus all my attention on football and make some bold picks as you will see. W

Falcons 27 Bucs 13 (14). Atlanta has to make a move now to have any hope of getting in the playoffs.W
Detroit 28 Bengals 17 (7). Detroit is improving and playing well at home. L
Miami 24 Buffalo 14 (8). Same thing I said about Detroit applies to Miami L
Jets 17 Patriots 14 (1). This may look like an upset but I'm going on a trend Geno Smith been good one week and bad the next. He was bad last week and this week he should be good enough to pull out a close one. W
Dallas 27 Eagles 20 (3). Eagles have been terrible at home. Tony Romo will throw for more than 400  passing yards causing the local media to say he is playing at his best while failing to mention that the Eagles are ranked last in defense. W
Bears 24 Redskins 17 (9). Until RG3 gets confidence playing with his surgically repaired knee, Washington will keep losing L
Carolina 24 Rams 7 (13). W
Chargers 30 Jaguars 14 (13). Why is Jacksonville even in the NFL W
49ers 21 Titans 10 (6). W
Packers 35 Browns 21 (15). W
Chiefs 21 Houston 10 (11). The Chiefs get better every week and Houston is declining in 5th gear. W
Baltimore 17 Steelers 14 (4). These games are always close regardless of the team's records. L
Denver 27 Colts 20 (10). Peyton's offense has too many weapons for the Colts. L
Giants 24 Vikings 20 (5). The Giants have to win eventually. W

week 6

Another rough week with my high confidence picks going down. I already picked Chicago to beat the Giants with a conf level of 11. Below are the rest of my picks W
Chiefs 17 Raiders 7 (10). Maybe the Chiefs are for real. W
Panthers 20 Vikings 7 (4). W
Ravens 24 Packers 17 (8). No Clay Matthews is too much to overcome L
Bengals 21 Bills 20 (2). Close one but if Dalton can figure out he has a great tight end in Tyler Eifert the Bengals will prevail. W
Lions 20 Browns 10 (3). If this were in Detroit I'd feel more confident. W
Steelers 27 Jets 17 (1). My upset pick. The Steelers are too proud to go 0 and 6  W
Eagles 21 Bucs 14 (5). Tampa looks for a new coach afterward. W
Houston 30 Rams 14 (9). Schaub finally has a game with no interceptions. L
Denver 80 Jaguars 17 (15). W
Seattle 27 Titans 10 (14). Seattle is unbeatable at home. W
Saints 24 Patriots 17 (12). Saints are on a roll and their offense has too many weapons for the Pats to handle. L
49ers 21 Cardinals 17 (13) W
Dallas 24 Redskins 14 ( 6). I need to see a solid game from RG3 before I can pick the Redskins. W
Colts 21 Chargers 14 (7). Andrew Luck gets better every week L

week 5

week 5

Last week was rough as I thought it would be for me but on the heels of my Notre Dame Fighting Irish victory at Jerry world yesterday I will be back in business today with a few upset picks this week that has some very close match ups. I already picked Cleveland (W) to win with a confidence level of 4 and below are the rest of my picks.

Bears 24 Saints 20 (5). Saints have rebounded from last year but there not as good a team on the road.L
Patriots 20 Bengals 17(1). I have serious doubts about Andrew Dalton. L
Packers 24 Lions 14 (10). Detroit is playing well so far but it's been forever since they have won in Lambeau field. W
Titans 20 Chiefs 17 (12). The Chiefs are 4 and 0 by playing Jacksonville and NFC east teams. Finally some real competions brings them to reality. L
Colts 24 Seattle 17 (2). This is not an upset. The Colts defense is underrated. W
Rams 20 Jaguars 10 (9). W
Ravens 28 Dolphins 17 (3). Flacco won't have two bad games in a row. W
Giants 23 Eagles 17 (8). I'm declaring early that Chip Kelley's style of offense is not right for the NFL. L
Cardinals 20 Panthers 17 (6). W
Denver 31 Cowboys 24 (7). If this were in Denver my confidence would be higher. W
49er 24 Houston 20 (11). Schaub will throw another pick 6. W
Chargers 30 Raiders 10 (13). Never thought I'd say this but Phillip Rivers is on a roll. L
Atlanta 35 Jets 7 (14). Falcons have had some tough losses and they will take it out on the Jets. L

 Patriots over Jets (8) (W)
Falcons 24 Rams 20 (1). The Rams will make a huge impact this year but Stephen Jackson will be movtivated playing against his old team. (W)

Colts 20 Miami 17 (12). Colts at home with Andrew Luck pull out a close one. (L)

Eagles 30 Chargers 17 (11). Michael Vick will get injured soon with the read option offense but not tomorrow.  (L)
Ravens 20 Browns 17 (3). Just enough Joe Flacco. (W)

Cardinals 27 Lions 20 (4). Close game but I just don't trust Detroit to but two good games together. (W)

Raiders 17 Jaguars 10 (7). Sleep aid game. (W)
Broncos 27 Giants 24 (5). Peyton is undefeated against Eli. (W)
Seattle 24 49ers 21 (9). The two best teams in the NFL. SF are better with Boldin but Seattle with a great secondary at home barely squeaks this one out. (W)

Colts 31 Raiders 10 (14). Raiders will be the 2nd  worst team this year. (W)
Saints 28 Falcons 21 (5).  Atlanta will be in the superbowl but facing the Saints at home with Sean Payton back as head coach will be too much for them in this game. (W)

Redskins 24 Eagles 16 (9). Only if RG3 avoids an injury. (L)

week 3

I was 12 and 4 last week with my best pick being the Bengals beating the Steelers 20 to 10 which was the final score of the game. I'm on a roll now and this week I'm off to a good start with the Chiefs beating the Eagles with a confidence level of 1. Below are my picks for week 3 W.
Packers 21 Bengals 20 (3). I'm still not sold on Andy Dalton L
Cowboys 23 Rams 20 (2). This is assuming the painkillers Tony Romo and Dez Bryant are given will last all 4 quarters. W
Titans 27 Chargers 17 (8). Phillip Rivers finally won a game in the 4th quarter last week. The streak ends tomorrow. W
Vikings 20 Browns 10 (4). Adrian Peterson is the difference . L
Patriots 24 Tampa Bay 10 (11). Patriots are very lucky to have an easy schedule so far. W
Saints 27 Cardinals 17 (9). New Orleans has their swagger back at home. W
Lions 30 Redskins 16 (7). It's hard to watch RG3 struggle. Redskins should look into giving his knee more time to heal. W
Giants 21 Panthers 14 (10). Panthers seem determined to lose close games. L
Houston 28 Ravens 17 (14). It won't matter if Ed Reed plays or not. Without Antoin Boldin the Ravens offense will struggle. L
Atlanta 24  Miami 21 (5). Another big game for Julius Jones. L
Bills 17 Jets 10 (6). Hard game to watch. L
49ers 30 Colts 17 (13). 49ers will dominate even if Aldon Smith plays drunk. L
Seahawks 35 Jaguars 3 (16). Too easy to pick. W
Bears 21 Steelers 13 (12). I don't expect Rothlisberger to make it through this game. W
Denver 38 Oakland 10 (15). Peyton Manning won't need to play in the 4th quarter. W

week 2

I'm off to a strong start with New England beating the Jets. I picked through a text to Mr. Slag the Patriots winning with a confidence level of 8 even if the game had a boring level that was off the charts. Below are the rest of my picks.
Falcons 24 Rams 20 (1). The Rams will make a huge impact this year but Stephen Jackson will be movtivated playing against his old team.
Carolina 28 Bills 7 (15). Cam Newton will be the most improved player this season.
Bears 24 Vikings 14 (10). Bears take advantage of Christian Ponder's mistakes.
Packers 28 Redskins 20 (13). RGIII needs more time to get back to last year's form.
Colts 20 Miami 17 (12). Colts at home with Andrew Luck pull out a close one.
Cowboys 20 Chiefs 17 (2). Chiefs will keep this close up to the end and won't turnover the ball. I'm counting on Tony Romo to excel since it's late in the season when he chokes.
Eagles 30 Chargers 17 (11). Michael Vick will get injured soon with the read option offense but not tomorrow.
Ravens 20 Browns 17 (3). Just enough Joe Flacco.
Houston 24 Titans 17 (6). At home Houston's defense should dominate.
Cardinals 27 Lions 20 (4). Close game but I just don't trust Detroit to but two good games together.
Saints 30 Bucs 14 (16). The Bucs are in termoil with the QB situation. That almost always translates to a loss
Raiders 17 Jaguars 10 (7). Sleep aid game.
Broncos 27 Giants 24 (5). Peyton is undefeated against Eli.
Seattle 24 49ers 21 (9). The two best teams in the NFL. SF are better with Boldin but Seattle with a great secondary at home barely squeaks this one out.
Bengals 20 Steelers 10 (14). This will be a tough season for an aging and injured Steeler team

week 1

As my rival Mr. Slag can attest I picked through text the Broncos to defeat Baltimore with a confidence level of 7 (John did better with a confidence level of 10) and below are the rest of my picks for the rest of the games which hopefully will not involve Ryan Seacrest introducing them and my superbowl pick.
Superbowl will be Atlanta vs Denver

Patriots 24 Bills 14 (15). New England benefits from being in a lousy division.
Bears 21 Bengals 17 (2). Close one. I may be the only person who still believes in Jay Cutler.
Browns 17 Dolphins 14 (3). Browns will be one of the most improved teams this year.
Vikings 24 Lions 20 (4). Another close one. I'm not sold on Matt Stafford.
Colts 31 Raiders 10 (14). Raiders will be the 2nd  worst team this year.
Saints 28 Falcons 21 (5).  Atlanta will be in the superbowl but facing the Saints at home with Sean Payton back as head coach will be too much for them in this game.
Bucs 24 Jets 3 (16). Jets will be the worst team this year.
Titans 24 Steelers 17 (6). This is not an upset. The Steelers are getting old.
Seahawks 30 Panthers 16 (10). Seahawks should have a great season.
Chiefs 20 Jaguars 14 (8). Chiefs can only improve this season and Alex Smith at QB will help.
Rams 27 Cardinals 17 (11). I have high hope for the Rams this season.
49ers 30 Packers 21 (12). Packers couldn't stop the read option last year and their offensive line is weak.
Cowboys 27 Giants 17 (1). The Giants haven't lost at Jerry world but  they generally start  the season slow.
Redskins 24 Eagles 16 (9). Only if RG3 avoids an injury.
Houston 30 Chargers 14 (13). Texans defense has the best lineman in JJ Watt and with Brian Cushing returning at linebacker will have the best defense in the AFC.

To anyone tired of all the hype generated by the Cowboy media on their opening game. I suggest you turn your channel to AMC tonight to watch Breaking Bad. It's the best show on TV today

SUPERBOWL

Another superbowl is here and the parties are already being prepared. Friends and family with their barbecue food and beer will be all gathered around to watch the biggest game of the season which of course will lead to most people calling in sick for their jobs on Monday. My playoff picks have been pretty average but I intend to cap off the season strong. I would like to say my rivals Mr. Slag and Brad have been institutionalized again for their Dallas Cowboys once again failing to make the playoffs but even they could see the Cowboys disappointing season coming from a mile away. It's been so long since the Cowboys have made it to the superbowl that predicting the Cowboys to fall far short of making the superbowl is like predicting the sun to rise in the east. Sadly it takes the week of the superbowl for the media to talk about teams that actually know how to play football when everything is on the line.
The superbowl ,or as everyone is calling it the Harbowl, is an intriguing matchup.
These two teams in the superbowl represent their coaches. The Ravens are smart, experienced and passionate. The 49ers are strong willed, dynamic and aggressive.
The sentimental favorite will be the Ravens but the 49ers on both the offensive and defensive line are stronger. Joe Flacco has yet to throw an interception in the playoffs and if the Ravens are to have any chance this must continue but the 49ers pistol offense will be the hardest challenge for the Ravens defense. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are smart enough to contain it early but the 49ers have a quarterback in Colin Kapernick who can beat a team either by running or throwing and has multiple offensive weapons to utilize. As experienced as the Ravens are, the strength and speed of the 49ers will be too much for them to overcome. The younger Harbough will be holding the Lombardy trophy and the 49ers will win convincingly.

49ers 28  Ravens 20

Just looking ahead the next great rivalry in football is the 49ers and the Seahawks. Don't be surprised if the superbowl is the start of another 49er dynasty.

conference finals

I was only 2 out of 2 last week. I still don't know what the safety for Denver was thinking letting Jacoby Jones get behind him for Baltimore's game tying touchdown but that's history and for today's games I see two games that will clearly show who the best teams in their respective conferences are.

49ers 28 Falcons 14 (2). The score could be worse. San Francisco is too strong and both the offensive and defensive line and have played a much stronger schedule than Atlanta.
Patriots 27 Ravens 20 (1). I wouldn't be surprised if New England doesn't win by two touchdowns. Even though Brady has struggled against Baltimore in the past the Raven defense is wearing down fast and the Patriots hurry up offense will be too much for them to handle.

playoffs continue

This week has two very easy picks and two difficult ones as the playoffs continue. I was 4 for 4 last week so here we go.

Patriots 28 Texans 14 (4). Houston's defense will play better than they did the last time they played the Patriots but Matt Schaub has been regressing for the last 5 weeks now. I did pick Houston to go the the superbowl before the season started so either way I can't lose on this one.
Broncos 24 Ravens 10 (3). Peyton Manning leading Denver's offense with the help of the mile high altitude will take all the energy out of the Ravens.
Packers 21 49ers 20 (2). Tough one but even though Aaron Rodgers has been sacked almost more than any other quarterback he should have just enough time to make the big plays since Justin Smith is playing with a torn tricep. If Smith were healthy I would pick San Francisco
Falcons 24 Seattle 20 (1). The toughest game to pick. Everyone knows about Atlanta's failure to win in the playoffs in recent years but Seattle lost their best pass rusher Chris Clemmons last week and this is the deciding factor. Matt Ryan will have time with multiple offensive weapons to win another game close at home like they did for most of the regular season

playofff

week 1 of the playoffs have the toughest games to pick. I almost wish the Cowboys would have beaten the redskins because they would have been destroyed by Seattle. All these games will be close and below are my picks
Houston 20 Bengals 17 (1). Houston is fading but the Bengals aren't quite experienced enough to win this game.
Packers 24 Vikings 21 (2). Adrian Peterson will get 35 carries for 210 yards but I'm counting on Christian Ponder to turn it over the few times he is asked to throw the ball.
Seattle 24 Redskins 27 (4). With RG3 not at 100% the Redskins will struggle against the Seahawks who have the best secondary in the NFL.
Ravens 24 Colts 21  (3). Andrew Luck has been great but on the road in Baltimore will be a little too much for him to handle on his own. Ray Rice should have a big day running the ball
